Javier Ekboir, senior research fellow, joined IFPRI in 2005 to lead the Institutional Change and Innovation Systems program in the ISNAR Division. Prior to joining IFPRI, he worked as a consultant with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations evaluating Mexico's agricultural innovation system and agricultural research policies. He was also an economist for Latin America at CIMMYT.
An Argentinan national, Ekboir's current research focuses on innovation systems, the dynamics of innovation networks, the joint dynamics of innovation and poverty, and agricultural research policies in the framework of innovation systems. Ekboir holds a Licenciatura in economics from the University of Buenos Aires, a Ph.D. in agricultural economics from the University of California-Davis, and an M.S. in agricultural economics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
