The 2020 Initiative contributes to developing a consensus for action through generating policy information and supporting policy consultations. During the past year, the Initiative focused on two main projects:
Agriculture and Climate Change
Agriculture and climate change are inextricably linked. To ensure that agriculture receives proper attention in the international climate change negotiations, the 2020 Initiative brought together experts to share their perspectives, in a set of briefs, on the key negotiating outcomes that must be pursued in Copenhagen in December 2009.
Learning from successes in agricultural development is now more urgent than ever. To examine past successes in agricultural development and share their lessons, the 2020 Initiative is undertaking a project to document evidence on what works in agriculture—what sorts of policies, programs, and investments in agricultural development have actually reduced hunger and poverty.
