The Agricultural Open Curriculum and Learning Initiative
The Agricultural Open Curriculum and Learning Initiative (AGROCURI) program was a higher agricultural education initiative facilitated by the CGIAR in cooperation with partner institutions in developing and developed countries. By sharing global knowledge through the adoption of an open learning resources approach, it addressed the major constraint of limited capacity in developing countries to actually implement action for pro-poor and sustainable agricultural growth. Enhanced capacity for designing and implementing agricultural development programs and policies in developing countries shall lead to pro-poor and sustainable agricultural growth resulting in improved food security and poverty reduction outcomes.
A centerpiece of AGROCURI was the internet portal through which participants gained access to the agricultural knowledge base. The pilot portal of AGROCURI was designed on an open source content management system, Drupal, and bound with Moodle, an open source learning management system. The system is no longer active.
