NSSP research is conducted in collaboration with researchers and analysts at Nigerian universities and research institutions. The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources guides NSSP on its policy research needs, under the auspices of the Agricultural Policy Support Facility (APSF).
Research undertaken by the APSF project addresses specific policy issues of relevance to the agricultural sector:
- Research on public investment in agriculture and other sectors, and economic growth helps identify the sources of growth for attaining development targets;
- Research on enhancing commodity value chains, increasing agricultural productivity, and decentralization contributes to options for agricultural sector growth that are pro-poor, gender sensitive, and environmentally sustainable.
- Research on poverty, malnutrition, and the gender implications of agricultural policy helps ensure that vulnerable households benefit from growth
