Abstract
Income growth, climate change, high energy prices, globalization, and urbanization are transforming the world food situation. Food prices are rising and are becoming increasingly linked with energy prices. This panel will examine why food prices are rising; what are the implications for food production, markets, trade, and consumption; and what are the consequences for the livelihoods of the poor and food-insecure, including those dependent on food aid.
