The International Food Policy Research Institute's Environment and Production Technology Division will host an international expert dialogue on "Biotechnology and Biosafety in Developing Countries." This forum will feature presentations and discussion sessions by colleagues and partners of IFPRI and the Program for Biosafety Systems, highlighting cutting edge research on biotechnology and biosafety issues. Topics will include:
- Socio-Economic and Trade Considerations
- Biotechnology and Biosafety Regulations – Governance and Legal Aspects
- Panel Discussion: "What are the key issues of the upcoming fourth meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (COP-MOP 4) to be held in Bonn, Germany, from May 12 -16, 2008? What new insights from research should COP-MOP (and other stakeholders) consider?"
