G8-Africa Partnership: Opportunity to Revitalize Agriculture & Improve Food Security

When G8 leaders gather in Deauville, France for their 2011 summit, one of their top priorities will be strengthening their partnership with Africa, including on issues related to food security and the critical role of agriculture. Nowhere is this more relevant than in Sub-Saharan Africa, where agriculture accounts for 30 to 40 percent of total gross domestic product (GDP) and almost 60 percent of export earnings.
