Dr. Alessandro (Alex) De Pinto received his Ph.D. in Agricultural and Consumer Economics from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign where he specialized in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics. Prior to joining IFPRI he was Assistant Professor at the University of Redlands. His research focuses on economic spatial analysis and uses a series of modeling techniques that make it possible to simulate location-specific effects of policy changes and their consequent environmental effects. He has worked in the United States, Italy, Costa Rica, and Somalia.
