Bio

Manmeet Ajmani is a Senior Research Analyst in the Foresight and Policy Modeling Unit. He has worked widely on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and South Asia regions and in projects related to trade, development, value chains, and agrifood systems.

Before joining IFPRI, Manmeet worked for the ASEAN India Centre at the Research and Information System for Developing Countries. He completed his master’s degree in economics at Jawaharlal Nehru University, specializing in environment and econometrics.

This factsheet provides a brief description of the economic structure and the size of the agrifood system of Uttar Pradesh (UP), an Indian state. The agrifood system comprises primary agriculture, food processing, agrifood trade, food services, and input supplies. We have constructed a multistate social accounting matrix (SAM) for the year 2017/18 to understand the size of UP’s agrifood system in comparison with the rest of India.
