In Bangladesh, the majority of the people suffer from a lack of food security. As a short-run solution to the problem, a targeted intervention of transferring income can be an efficient way of increasing real incomes of the poor. Distributing rationed food to a target group at subsidized prices is a well-known way to transfer income.
