Clemens Breisinger joined IFPRI's Development Strategy and Governance Division in July 2006. Clemens works on the analysis of economic growth options and constraints to development using economy-wide models and other tools. His focus is on spatial dimensions of development, including investment strategies and policies for lagging regions.

Clemens received his PhD from the University of Hohenheim, Germany. His thesis examined growth and poverty impacts of large-scale infrastructure investments in Viet Nam. Prior to joining IFPRI, Clemens worked as research associate at the Department for Rural Development Theory and Policy at Hohenheim University and as assistant of the Scientific Advisory Board of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
