Catarina Cronquist, a citizen of Sweden and the U.S., joined EPTD in April 2006 as part of the Program for Biosafety Systems (PBS), an IFPRI-managed partnership program funded by USAID. Catarina works to support PBS management and strategic planning, capacity building initiatives, and internal and external communications. Catarina enjoys coming up with creative ideas and practical materials to enhance programmatic outreach and has contributed to the development of several PBS publications (including brochures, policy briefs, fact sheets, newsletters, CD-Rom), and online media for both internal and external communications.
Prior to joining IFPRI, Catarina worked at Bread for the World, a Washington-based NGO which lobbies Congress on legislation concerning global hunger and poverty. She also worked in the Press & Information and Consular Divisions of the Embassy of Sweden; at the Crafts Center, a local organization which supports low-income artisans in less developed countries; and conducted gender and development-related research with the School for International Training (a World Learning program), while living in Jamaica for half a year. She has a B.A. in International Economics and Development Anthropology from The George Washington University, and an M.A. in Gender and Development from The Institute for Development Studies at The University of Sussex in the U.K.
