David Orden joined IFPRI in August 2003 as senior research fellow in the Markets, Trade and Institutions Division to conduct research on agricultural policy and international trade, including the impacts of industrialized country agricultural subsidies on developing countries. Orden is also professor of agricultural and applied economics at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (on leave). He has carried out research and public policy education programs on exchange rate effects on agriculture, macroeconomic dynamic econometrics, the economics and political economy of domestic support policies and international trade negotiations, and technical barriers to trade. He has been a Visiting Fellow at the University of New South Wales in Australia (1990), chairman of the International Agricultural Trade Research Consortium (1996-97), and Visiting Professor at Stanford University (1998-99). Orden received a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Minnesota.
