More about Amber Peterman in
Amber is a gender and development specialist whose work includes input into the Strengthening Women’s Assets for Better Development Outcomes research program. Her research focuses on linkages between population and development outcomes, women’s property ownership and inheritance rights, maternal health, and conflict-related issues primarily in sub-Saharan Africa. Amber received her Ph.D. in Public Policy with a concentration in Maternal and Child Health Policy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her B.A. in Economics from the University of California, San Diego. Before joining IFPRI in 2009, she was involved in primary data collection and field work in Guyana, Malawi, Kenya and South Africa in collaboration with the World Bank, Population Council and Inter-American Development Bank. Prior to graduate work, Amber spent time living in Ghana and Cameroon volunteering for women’s micro credit and health education grass-roots NGOs.
