Bonnie McClafferty, a US citizen, and is the Head of Development and Communications of HarvestPlus, a global Challenge Program of the CGIAR that seeks to reduce malnutrition by breeding nutrient rich staple crops.

Before taking her current position, McClafferty was the coordinator for all Communication and Advocacy for HarvestPlus and preceding HarvestPlus she headed Communications for the Food Consumption and Nutrition Division of IFPRI. An IFPRI staff member since 1996, she has focused her work on communication related to food consumption and nutrition and making the link between agricultural technologies and public health. Bonnie has published in the field of agricultural, gender, nutrition and communication.

McClafferty has recently been appointed to the Program Advisory Committee for Helen Keller International and serves on the board of the NGO StepUp International. She earned a bachelor’s of science degree in Agronomy from Cornell University and a master’s degree in public policy and administration from the University of Virginia.
