Catherine Aragon, a citizen from the Philippines, joined IFPRI in May 2009 as a Research Analyst at the Director General’s Office. She received her undergraduate and master’s degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of the Philippines Los Baños. Catherine also holds an M.S. in Agricultural and Applied Economics from Virginia Tech and has has been involved in ex-ante impact assessment of Bt eggplant on poverty in the Philippines for her graduate program.
Aside from IFPRI, Catherine has worked for two other CGIAR centers. Prior to pursuing graduate studies at Virginia Tech, she was a Sr. Research Assistant at the WorldFish Center for the Policy, Economics and Social Science Discipline. Her research focused on examining the production, market and policy structures of the milkfish industry in the Philippines. Catherine also worked as an Assistant Scientist at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) for the Crop-Animal Systems Research Network Project where she examined various policies that promoted or constrained livestock farmers to adopt improved technologies.
