Emily Schmidt has worked for IFPRI’s Development Strategy and Governance Division since February 2009. From 2009 - 2011, Emily was based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia as the Country Program Coordinator and GIS specialist. She is currently based in Washington DC as an Associate Research Fellow. Her research focuses on the impact, trade-offs and determinants of sustainable land management in Ethiopia. She is currently investigating determinants of youth employment decisions, as well as a variety of spatial analyses on rural-urban linkages, agglomeration economies and market access. Emily holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado (Boulder).
