Dr. A. Ganesh-Kumar is a Research Fellow in the Environment and Production Technology Division (EPTD) and New Delhi Office of IFPRI. Prior to joining IFPRI, he was a Professor at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) in Mumbai, India. He also held the position of Regional Adviser on Poverty Reduction at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP), Bangkok, Thailand. Ganesh has done Masters in Econometrics from University of Madras, and Ph.D. from the Indian Statistical Institute.

His research interests include agriculture and economic development, in particular relating to food security, agricultural price and grain management policies, agricultural trade, economic growth and MDG indicators, international trade competitiveness and finance. He is well experienced in using computable general equilibrium (CGE) models for policy analysis, which has been used for policy advice to the Planning Commission, Government of India.
