Jean-Francois Maystadt is a post-doctoral research fellow in the Development Strategy and Governance Division at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), where he joined as a postdoctoral fellow in September 2010. He is a development economist specializing in the study of Conflicts, Natural Disasters and Forced Migration. His current research at IFPRI is related to the causes and consequences of conflicts and forced migration in Central Africa (Democratic Republic of Congo), Eastern Africa (Tanzania, Somalia, Horn of Africa) and the Arab world. He has also recently published a paper on weather variations and migration in Sub-Saharan Africa in the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management.
