Jose Funes, has joined IFPRI as a Senior Research Assistant in DSG. He is originally from Honduras and received his undergraduate degree in Agriculture and Natural Resources from Zamorano University, Honduras. Upon graduation, he worked for the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture and the National Program for Sustainable Rural Development with research focused on watershed modeling, spatial analysis and remote sensing. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Geography from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While at University of Illinois, Jose worked with the Illinois Natural History Survey in conjunction with the International Centre of Insect Physiology in a number of spatial modeling studies ranging from epidemiology (Malaria and West Nile), landscape ecology, and precision agriculture in Kenya.
