Julia joined IFPRI in 2009 as the Senior Research Assistant to the Gender Task Force and the Strengthening Women's Assets Research Program. Prior to joining IFPRI she worked as a consultant on projects and evaluations related to gender roles & norms, land reform, HIV/AIDS and maternal and child health in Sub-Saharan Africa for a number of organizations including the World Bank, Economic Development Initiatives, Women Living Under Muslim Laws and the Institute for Fiscal Studies.

She holds an MSc in Social Anthropology and Development Studies from the London School of Economics and a BA in Sociology from Williams College.
