Mara van den Bold joined IFPRI in January 2012 as a Research Analyst in IFPRI’s Poverty, Health and Nutrition Division (PHND). Prior to joining IFPRI, Mara worked in London at WaterAid, an international NGO focused on improving access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene. There she worked primarily on developing the organization’s Pan-Africa Strategy and program of work, as well as issues relating to hygiene promotion and disaster response.
Mara holds an MSc in Anthropology and Development from the London School of Economics (LSE), and a BA in Anthropology and Latin American Studies from Union College, NY. Her previous research has focused on agrarian reform, implications of land administration projects in indigenous communities in Guatemala, and identity formation of social movements within the context of natural resource extraction in Nigeria.
