Position: 

Marites joined the Markets, Trade and Institutions Division of IFPRI in September 2002 to work with Chris Delgado on IFPRI's Global Research Program on Increasing Participation in High-Value Agricultural Markets and recently, on the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI)/IFPRI Joint Program on Livestock Market Opportunities. Her research work focuses on smallholders' participation in growing livestock markets in developing countries.

Prior to IFPRI, she worked with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) conducting empirical analysis through data acquisition and documentation; econometric analysis and report preparation related to productivity and efficiency changes of intensive irrigated rice systems in Asia. She also provided research assistance at the WorldFish Center working mainly on socioeconomic analysis of freshwater capture fisheries in Cambodia and impact assessment of production and marketing of inland fisheries products in the Philippines.

She received her Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics and her undergraduate degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of the Philippines at Los Baños.
