Surajit Baruah, a citizen of India, joined IFPRI in 2004 as Research Analyst. Before joining IFPRI he was working with National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER), New Delhi, India. He did his master degree in Applied Statistics from Delhi University, India, and MS in System Software from BITS (Pilani), India.

His areas of specializations are data base technology, implementing IT projects, and managing IT setup of an organization. He is currently working on data collection software for hand held devices, and web technologies.
