The IMPACT model has not only been used for commodity-specific analysis but also to answer "hot" food-security and production-related questions. For example, the paper Alternative Futures for World Cereal and Meat Consumption (Rosegrant, Leach and Gerpacio, 1999), examines whether high-meat diets in developed countries limit improvement in food security in developing countries. Moreover, a book titled Ending Hunger In Our Lifetime: Food Security and Globalization written in collaboration with Bread for the World and the University of Minnesota and funded by the Ford Foundation was published in 2003.
