IFPRI Postdoctoral Fellowship Recipients: 2001

Simphiwe Ngqangweni

Simphiwe Ngqangweni will spend one year (February 2001 - January 2002) at IFPRI in the postdoctoral fellowship program. He earned a bachelor's degree in agriculture at the University of Fort Hare in Alice, South Africa, and honours, master's and doctoral degrees, all in agricultural economics, from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He has worked for the former Ciskei homeland government in Bisho, South Africa, as an economist; for the Environmental and Development Agency, an NGO based in Johannesburg, South Africa; for the Africa Institute for Policy Analysis (AIPA) in Cape Town, South Africa; for the University of Pretoria as a researcher; and for the Ministry for Agriculture and Land Affairs in South Africa as a research consultant. He is currently on a one-year leave from the University of Pretoria where he has been a lecturer in agricultural economics since January 2000.
