Objectives
General Objectives
The broad objective of the regional course on food security is to impart the concepts and themes of food security in developing countries with particular emphasis on the Philippines.
Specific Objectives- To understand the basic concepts related to food security, poverty, and malnutrition.
- To understand the global food security situation and its relationship to the Millennium Development Goals.
- To develop an understanding of the overall effect of globalization on food consumption and nutritional status.
- To understand the various modalities of intervention for food security.
- To discuss the changes in dietary trends.
- To learn the various methods for identifying poverty.
- To identify and analyze intrahousehold issues and their influence on food and nutritional outcomes within the household.
- To develop skills for communicating policy research results to various audiences.
- To understand the relationship between conflict and food security.
- To discuss the impact of commercialization and domestic and international trade on food security.
