OBJECTIVES
  • To review agricultural policies in South Asia during the 1990s to the present and their relation to trade agreements;
  • To provide an opportunity to discuss and exchange views on the agricultural trade and trade related policies of each of the individual South Asian countries
  • To enhance participants’ understanding of AoA, SPS, IPR, and TBT in order to improve the negotiations of South Asian countries under WTO;
  • To discuss how SPS issues will affect South Asian trade and how South Asia should be preparing to meet the demands of SPS; and
  • To learn how intellectual property rights will impact trade in South Asia and what South Asia should be doing to limit its negative impact on trade.
