| Objective |
The Program is designed to maximize the intellectual links between Western and non-Western studies, contemporary and historical work, the social sciences and the humanities in the context of research on rural life and society Target Group: encourages applications from knowledgeable "activists" and "public intellectuals" whose work on rural life transcends the academy. |
| Award |
Four to six Postdoctoral Fellowships stipends (US$40,000 per academic year) from September 2002 - May 2003. |
| Expectations |
The fellows are expected to reside in New Haven, pursue their own research, and participate in a colloquium series on the broad theme "Hinterlands, Frontiers, Cities, and States: Transactions and Identities". |
| Eligibility |
Fellows must have finished the dissertation before taking on the fellowship. |
