  3. Status of Agricultural Economics in Eastern and Southern Africa
    A report entitled "Status of Agricultural Economics in Selected Countries in Eastern and Southern Africa" by Marios Obwona and David Norman, is now available.   4. Circle of Rights - A Training Resource
    Circle of Rights is a manual for training human rights activists, development workers, members of organizations representing disadvantaged groups, and others who are addressing economic, social, and cultural issues. The hope and expectation is that trainers will adapt and expand this manual to conduct training programs on economic, social, and cultural (ESC) rights and ESC-rights activism.   5. Client Targeting Center
    The Consultative Group to Assist the Poorest (CGAP) recently launched the Client Targeting Center, which is intended for microfinance institutes (MFIs) and others interested in microfinance. The Center provides information on different targeting tools, empirical evidence on the depth MFI outreach, and experiences with targeting.   6. Participatory Training and Extension in Farmers' Water Management -- Website and CD-Rom
    The Water Service of the Food and Agriculture Organization has developed a package of training material for the development and implementation of Participatory Training & Extension Programme in Farmers' Water Management. The website will provide a platform to exchange experiences and to make available relevant reference documents, web links, and training materials developed in various projects. The package is compiled on a CD-Rom together with an extensive set of training aids and materials. It is also available at http://www.fao.org/ag/AGL/aglw/farmerwatertraining.   8. Discrete Choice Methods with Simulation Training Materials
    Kenneth Train of the University of California, Berkeley designed an on-line course on discrete choice methods. The course includes videotaped lectures for web streaming, a textbook, problem sets with data and computer codes, and a reading list with links to the articles.     Development Consultants for Asia Africa Pacific
    The Development Consultants for Asia Africa Pacific (DCAAP) is a Manila-based global training, research, development, and consultancy firm specializing in human development management (HDM). DCAAP is the revival of the UNDP/Asia Pacific Programme for Development Training and Communication Planning (DTCP), which was privatized in 1995. DCAAP assists other organizations through custom-built training, formulating sustainable development project proposals, operationalizing newly approved project documents, and simplifying and rationalizing difficult to implement project documents. NETWORK PROFILE

    ACC Network on Rural Development and Food Security
    The ACC Network on Rural Development and Food Security was established by the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) , International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and World Food Program (WFP). The Network is a mechanism for follow-up to the World Food Summit Plan of Action, which stressed the need for coordinated and focused action at the country level. Some activities on rural development and food security stimulated by the Network range from supporting the Special Programme on Food Security (SPFS) to developing Food Insecurity and Vulnerability Information Mapping Systems (FIVIMS). The ACC Network on Rural Development and Food Security aims to mobilize support for government efforts to implement the World Food Summit Plan of Action and rural development and food security programs; to reinforce ties between UN system organizations and other stakeholders; to foster complementarities and synergies; and to exchange and dissemination information, experiences, and best practices. The website serve as an interactive forum for networking, the exchange of lessons learned, and best practices.
