  1. Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Resources Management
    Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Resources Management (SANREM) is seeking pre-proposals that support SANREM's overall goal, which is to improve decisionmaking by natural resource managers in order to increase food production, reduce poverty, and conserve natural resources. Pre-proposals should focus on three priority themes: community-based water and watershed management, agriculture and biodiversity use and conservation linkages, and local responses to global climate variation.   2. Freedom from Hunger

  4. Data from Developing Countries
    The University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) has recently launched a website (http://chaka.sscnet.ucla.edu/dev_data/data.htm) that contains an extensive collection of household data, including nutrition, for developing countries.

  5. FAO-Biotech News
    The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has launched FAO-Biotech News, an e-mail listserve containing news and event announcements that are relevant to the application of biotechnology to food and agriculture in developing countries. The aim of FAO-Biotech News is to inform policymakers and technical decisionmakers about current developments and issues in agricultural biotechnology.   7. International Development Research Centre
    The International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada, is launching a competition to support research on the changing balance between public and private sector funding of research, and its implications for developing country governments and research institutions. The competition is open to researchers throughout the developing world, and will award up to seven grants, with a maximum value of CAD $80,000 each. Applications must be submitted by March 29, 2002.
