    The American Agricultural Economics Association (AAEA) has presented its 2002 Award for Distinguished Policy Contribution to Per Pinstrup-Andersen, IFPRI director general, Rajul Pandya-Lorch, Head of the 2020 Vision initiative, and Mark Rosegrant, IFPRI senior research fellow, for improving policies and programmes, enhancing dialogue and debate, and raising public awareness.

  3. Environmental Assessment Capacity Building
    Environmental Assessment Capacity Building (ENCAP) program aims to archive knowledge, aid future training, and improve environmental reviews in Africa. ENCAP is sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Africa Bureau's Sustainable Development Office (AFR/SD) and USAID's Regional Economic Development Support Office-Eastern and Southern Africa (REDSO/ESA). ENCAP will disseminate information through USAID missions, contractors, grantees, and host country collaborators in Africa. The ENCAP website contains environmental guidelines, course materials, AFR environmental examinations forms, a list of courses, a database of training participants, and extensive references to environmentally sound program design.     African Centre for Technology Studies
    The African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) is an international inter-governmental policy research and training organization located in Nairobi, Kenya. It was established in 1988. It undertakes policy research and related activities on the application of science and technology to sustainable development. The Centre's activities focus on the implementation of Agenda 21 and related conventions on biological diversity, climate change, and desertification. The projects of the Center include Ecological Sources of African Conflicts, Biotechnology Policy, Water Resources Management, and Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property (TRIPs). The Centre carries out activities through three organizational divisions: Capacity Development, Research Programmes, and Policy Outreach.     International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications
    The International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (ISAAA) is a not-for-profit organization that delivers the benefits of new agricultural biotechnologies to the poor in developing countries. It is a small, responsive, international network with centers in developing and industrialized countries. Its mission is to alleviate poverty by increasing crop productivity and income generation, particularly for resource-poor farmers and to bring about a safer environment and more sustainable agricultural development. Its objectives also include building partnerships between institutions in the South and the private sector in the North and strengthening South-South collaboration.
