  3. Fourth Annual Global Development Awards Competition--Deadline Extended for Agriculture Reform and Rural Development in the Lowest Income Countries
    The deadline for submission of papers in the Medals category on Agriculture Reform and Rural Development in the Lowest Income Countries has been extended to September 30, 2003. The five finalists in this category will present their papers at the Global Development Network (GDN) Annual Conference in New Delhi, India on January 28-30, 2004.   4. SAGA Eastern Himalayas Resource Kit
    The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) has developed the Social Analysis and Gender Analysis (SAGA) Eastern Himalayas Resource kit as a reference and training tool for participants in the "Training on Social and Gender Analysis of Natural Resource Management and Biodiversity in the Eastern Himalayas." The kit also intended for a wider audience, such as social and gender analysis trainers, researchers, and IDRC partners. The kit comprises five case studies and four theoretical papers. It also includes an annotated bibliography of additional readings and a list of websites, including online guides, books, and kits. For more information, contact IDRC at cbnrm@idrc.ca.

  5. World Trade Report 2003
    The World Trade Organization (WTO) launched the first edition of a new annual publication known as the World Trade Report. This report is intended to contribute to the public debate on trade policy and the multilateral trading system. The 270-page report examines the Doha Development Agenda round of global trade negotiations.     The International Food and Agricultural Trade Policy Council (IPC) develops and advocates policies that support an efficient and open global food system, that promote the economically and environmentally sustainable production and distribution of safe, accessible food to the world's growing population. IPC accomplishes its mission by: convening influential policymakers, agribusiness executives, farm leaders, and academics; clarifying complex issues and exploring solutions; building consensus on pragmatic solutions to food and agricultural trade debates; influencing stakeholders through practical and prescriptive policy advice; and communicating IPC recommendations to governments and stakeholders. NETWORK PROFILE

    Food Science and Nutrition Network for Africa (FOSNNA)
    FOSNNA is non-sectarian and non-profit network for professionals and individuals working or interested in food and nutrition. It aims to provide an opportunity for exchanging ideas among food scientists in Africa through Internet, workshops, and symposiums. It addresses challenges related to research and development and how to generate additional information that can improve transfer of technology. The network was inaugurated in February 2002 during the first biennial scientific conference held in Dar as Salaam, Tanzania. For more information, visit http://www.fosnna.org.
