    IFPRI's 2020 Vision Initiative is holding a writing contest for young Africans (14-19 years old) to share their thoughts on how to achieve the goal of food security. The contest is being held in conjunction with the forthcoming all-Africa conference on "Assuring Food and Nutrition Security in Africa by 2020: Prioritizing Action, Strengthening Actors, Facilitating Partnerships," to be held in Kampala, Uganda, on April 1-3, 2004.   6. Guidelines for Impact Monitoring & Assessment in Microfinance Programmes
    The German Society for Technical Co-operation (GTZ) has published guidelines for impact assessment that focuses on management-oriented measures. These guidelines offer relevant information that will help users make informed decisions; design Impact Monitoring (IM) and Impact Assessments (IA); build improve existing Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) procedures; measure the effectiveness of microfinance program according to key concepts in poverty reduction; design a less costly, application-orientated M&E process.     Asian Agri-History Foundation (AAHF)
    This non-profit trust, established in 1994, disseminates information on agricultural history to promote research on sustainable agriculture in South and Southeast Asia. Its publishes an international quarterly journal, Asian Agri-History; encourages and supports research in universities and other institutions; promotes inclusion of agricultural history in the curriculum of agricultural universities; organizes seminars, conferences, and lectures to promote information exchange and collaboration among scholars; and establishes a database and a library of publications on the history of Asian agriculture.     South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics, & Environment (SAWTEE)
    SAWTEE is a non-profit, nongovernmental organization (NGO) that was launched in December 1994 by a consortium of South Asian NGOs in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. It builds capacity of South Asian stakeholders by equipping them with knowledge, information, and skills about liberalization and globalization. It analyzes provisions of World Trade Organization (WTO) agreements, conducts programs to enhance participation of least-developed and land-locked countries in the global trading system; facilitates regional integration; establishes linkages and promotes cooperation with other organizations with similar objectives; and conducts research and advocates programs on trade, economic, and environmental issues affecting South Asia. Candidates must have a university diploma equivalent to the American Bachelor of Arts or Science degree and be capable of carrying out independent research and inquiry. A high degree of English fluency defined as a score of 600 or higher on the TOEFL exam is required. All nationalities are eligible except US citizens. Fellows are required to attend the annual International Fellows in Philanthropy Conference prior to their fellowship year and are strongly encouraged to participate in subsequent annual conferences.
