  1. Nutrition Intake and Economic Growth: Studies on the Cost of Hunger
    The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has published this book, which sheds light on the relationship between food energy intake and economic growth.   2. eJADE
    The electronic Journal of Agricultural and Development Economics (eJADE), a new initiative by the Agricultural and Development Economics Division (ESA) of FAO, is an online, peer-reviewed electronic journal, published three times a year. The first issue presents recent country case studies on agriculture's contribution to poverty reduction, economic growth, and overall social welfare.   3. Crisis and Hunger
    This multilingual and comprehensive online database focuses on various aspects of complex emergencies that relate to food security. It presents information from data sources in a variety of formats to meet the diverse needs of different actors in the food security arena.   4. The State of Food and Agriculture (SOFA)
    SOFA, FAO's annual flagship publication, is now available. SOFA reports on current trends and analyzes key developments in food and agriculture. This edition explores the potential of agricultural biotechnology in addressing the needs of the world's poor and food insecure.   5. Call for Proposals: Macroeconomic Policy Challenges of Low Income Countries
    The United Kingdom and the Netherlands governments, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Bank are launching an international research project on key macroeconomic policy challenges faced by low-income countries. The Global Development Network, the organizer, is soliciting proposals for research projects from academics and other researchers based in low-income countries. Submissions are due by April 15.   6. Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Manual
    The United Nations Institute for Training and Research recently release this training manual that outlines the general aspects of PPP and emphasizes the need for cooperation between the public and private sector for sustainable development. It discusses various cases related to PPP in infrastructure development and social services development, and to lenders' perspectives on financing a PPP.   7. Call for Papers: Institutional Change in Agricultural Innovation Systems (AISs)

  • Global Forum on Agricultural Research (GFAR)
    GFAR is a multi-stakeholder initiative that contributes to eradicating poverty, achieving food security, and conserving and managing natural resources. It enhances national capacities to generate, adapt, and transfer knowledge. It serves as a neutral forum for the discussion of strategic issues in agricultural research for development. The GFAR stakeholders include national agricultural research systems (NARS), the CGIAR, advanced research institutes, farmers' organizations, NGOs, private companies, and donors and development agencies.
