- IFPRI Dataset
Land Tenure, Agricultural Productivity and the Environment: Suba and Laikipia Districts, Kenya, 2001
This dataset accompanies a study that examined the relationships between land tenure, agricultural productivity, and the environment in order to provide the necessary policy guidelines to the Kenyan government and other stakeholders. The study was carried out in the districts of Suba and Laikipia. The dataset contains information on household characteristics such as income, occupation, and socioeconomic background; land characteristics such as parcel size, sale of land, and security of access to land; as well as environmental degradation, conservation measures, hired labor, livestock ownership, infrastructure, and access to credit. These data, originally collected by Dr. Paul Omondi Obunde, Dr. Cyrus M. Mbogo, and Dr. Agnes Wanza Komoni of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Kenya, and Dr. Willis Oluoch Kosura of the Department of Agricultural Economics, University of Nairobi, have been made available by IFPRI under its 2020 Vision Competitive Research Grant program. For ordering information, visit http://www.ifpri.org/data/kenya02.htm.

NETWORK PROFILE
- Fertilizer Advisory, Development, and Information Network for Asia and the Pacific (FADINAP)
FADINAP was established in 1978 as a United Nations interagency network of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, to provide assistance in increasing food production by supporting the development of an efficient and effectively functioning fertilizer sector in Asia and the Pacific region. FADINAP's objectives are to encourage and facilitate the balanced use of fertilizer in order to raise agricultural productivity, especially in the production of food and marketable surpluses by small-scale farmers, and to spread the benefits of agricultural development among broader sections of the farming population with the ultimate purpose of alleviating poverty; to enhance environmental awareness and encourage practices that lead to increasing and sustainable yields; to promote efficiency in the supply, marketing, distribution, and use of fertilizer in order to reduce costs and increase availability; and to improve the bargaining position of member countries through the provision of information on prices and trade. FADINAP provides training opportunities and advisory and information services to member countries, and stimulates technical cooperation among developing countries in fertilizer-sector development.
