ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. IFPRI Dataset
Collective Action in Canal Irrigation Systems Management: The Case of Doho Rice Scheme in Uganda , 2001 survey
The objective of this study is to determine the extent of farmers' participation in the collective action of maintaining the Doho Rice Scheme (DRS) canals after the transfer of responsibility from the government to farmers, and to identify factors influencing farmers' participation and compliance with a user-fee payment bylaw. The study was conducted at the DRS in Tororo District , Uganda , through a survey of 411 households that produced rice in the first or second crop seasons in 2001. The dataset contains information on household composition, human and social capital, household assets other than land, factor acquisition, land use, tenure and land markets, income and expenditure, and collective maintenance of the irrigation scheme. These data, originally collected by Dr. Sserunkuuma, Dr. Ochom, and Dr. Ainembabazi of the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness, Makerere University , Uganda , have been made available by IFPRI under its 2020 Vision Competitive Research Grant program.
