- IFPRI Dataset
Philippines: Smallholder Livestock Production Dataset, 2000-2001
This survey was conducted by the Markets, Trade, and Institutions Division of IFPRI in collaboration with the International Livestock Research Institute, and the University of the Philippines Los Baños. It was conducted in three cities in the provinces of Batangas and Laguna in Southern Luzon, Philippines to understand why some smallholders participate in hog production and others do not. A total of 291 households were randomly identified from a stratified sample frame, of which 150 households were hog producers (including 50 small-scale contract farms) and 141 households were non-livestock-raisers. The data collected includes information on farm-specific output and input prices, quantity of output in kilograms liveweight, different types of activity, family and hired labor, value of breeding stock, value of buildings and equipment, different market outlets, household characteristics, and access to information, credit, and veterinary services. For ordering information, visit http://www.ifpri.org/data/philippines02.htm. - South Asia Biosafety Program (SABP)
SABP is coordinated by Agriculture and Biotechnology Strategies (AGBIOS), Canada and IFPRI. It is currently assisting the governments of Bangladesh and India in strengthening their institutional governance of biotechnology. It builds on existing efforts to advise governments on enhancing and streamlining their systems to realize the benefits of agricultural biotechnology within a transparent, efficient, and responsive regulatory framework that ensures the safety of new foods and animal feeds and protects the environment. AGBIOS will develop and implement biotechnology and biosafety policies at the regulatory and technical levels, while IFPRI will address biosafety policy considerations within the broader context of agricultural, natural resource, macroeconomic, and trade policies. For more information, visit http://www.agbios.com/sabp. - ICT in Agriculture: Perspectives of Technological Innovation
