Information and Communication Technologies for Development and Poverty Reduction -- The Potential of Telecommunications

The book Information and Communication Technologies for Development and Poverty Reduction--The Potential of Telecommunications, edited by Maximo Torero and Joachim von Braun, describes how the development and proliferation of telecommunication technologies has accelerated economic and social change across all areas of human activity. 2. IFPRI Dataset
Burkina Faso PNDSA II Impact Analysis Baseline Survey, 2002-2003

This survey was conducted by the Center for Studies and Research on International Development (CERDI) at the University of Auvergne, University of California at Berkeley, and University of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The funding was provided by the Trust Fund for Environmentally and Socially Sustainable Development (TFESSD) of the World Bank. The dataset is the baseline survey for the impact evaluation of the Programme National de Services Agricoles (PNDSA II) in Burkina Faso and its objective was to strengthen the capacity of Rural Producers Organizations (POs) to provide services for their members. The program also created PO councils at the district-level "Départements" in Burkina Faso. The sampling design included agro-ecological areas in the North, the Central North, the West, the South, and the Southeast. The topics covered information at the village and household levels; on all POs in the village; and on cotton, trade, horticulture, and other agricultureal activities undertaken by the POs. A related survey is Senegal PSAOP Impact Analysis Baseline Survey, 2002-2003, which used similar questionnaires in Senegal.
