Lina Alaaeldin Abdelfattah

Lina Alaaeldin Abdelfattah is a Senior Research Associate in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit, based in Cairo. Her research interests include applied economic development, trade, and spatial economics, with a focus on topics relevant to social protection, food, nutrition, and agriculture in the Middle East and Africa.

Paul Dorosh on the African Drought (Voice of America News)

Development Strategy and Governance Division Director Paul Dorosh joined the Voice of America’s Vincent Makori to discuss the drought faced by many in Africa. The discussion, which focused in Ethiopia in particular, aired on VOA’s Africa54 program. Dorosh said the Ethiopian government has made preparations for the drought–including scaling up safety net programs–and that he is optimistic that the effects won’t be as severe as some of the country’s past droughts.
