Lina Alaaeldin Abdelfattah

Lina Alaaeldin Abdelfattah is a Senior Research Associate in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit, based in Cairo. Her research interests include applied economic development, trade, and spatial economics, with a focus on topics relevant to social protection, food, nutrition, and agriculture in the Middle East and Africa.

When hunger is no longer a priority, but business is (National Herald)

Political activist Harsh Mander authored an opinion article in India’s National Herald about the government’s inaction in combating hunger and the country’s poor ranking on the Global Hunger Index. Mander criticizes the government for placing its attention on economic success, rather than investing in agriculture and public health. The GHI ranks India fifth from the bottom in Asia.
