Lina Alaaeldin Abdelfattah

Lina Alaaeldin Abdelfattah is a Senior Research Associate in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit, based in Cairo. Her research interests include applied economic development, trade, and spatial economics, with a focus on topics relevant to social protection, food, nutrition, and agriculture in the Middle East and Africa.

Conflicts between Russia and Ukraine result in restriction of exports of agricultural products (portuguese.cri.cn)

Portuguese.cri.cn (Portugal) published an article stating that international organizations and governments are meeting to deal with the food crisis caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Experts and decisionmakers are in search of solutions to the issue of food security. At the same time, with the concern of food shortages, several countries began to restrict exports of food and agricultural products to ensure domestic supply. According to data released by IFPRI, from the beginning of the confrontation to the end of April, the number of countries that placed restrictions on this aspect grew to 23, which include Indonesia, India, and Malaysia.
