Globally, policy initiatives have addressed food insecurity and the increasing pressure on available land that has followed from growing populations and changing diets.

Vietnam has experienced rapid growth in agricultural mechani-zation lately; particularly in the use of tractors and combine-harvesters.

Some 12,000 community preschools in Malawi serve 45 percent of the county’s preschool population. Yet because of food insecurity and communities’ difficulties in providing preschoolers with a midmorning meal, these schools may not survive.

The results of this study reveal that the full inclusion of crop production in the forest landscape restoration approach could produce largescale, worldwide benefits for food security and therefore facilitate a wide uptake of restoration practices

Overall, the study shows that large, one-time cash transfers aimed at increasing agricultural investments can significantly impact smallholders’ agricultural production.
