IFPRI is governed by its Board of Trustees. The institute is led by Dr Johan Swinnen, who also serves as Managing Director of the CGIAR Systems Transformation Science Group.
IFPRI’s research structure fits under two research pillars: Transformation Strategies and Food and Nutrition Policy, and is fully integrated into the CGIAR Systems Transformation Science Group. The four units in the Transformation Strategies pillar focus on research and innovation to deliver integrated policies, investments, and governance processes in support of food, land, and water systems transformation. The three units under the Food and Nutrition Policy pillar focus on research and innovation to support the transformation of food systems to deliver improved livelihoods, healthy diets, sustainability, and the inclusive societies.
