Esther Waruingi

Research Officer

Esther Waruingi is a Research Officer in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit, based in IFPRI’s Kenya office. Her research interests include natural resource management through payment for ecosystem services, and interactions between climate change and sustainable food systems for sustainable livelihoods. She has experience in the use of various econometric approaches in impact evaluation and is also knowledgeable in valuation of ecosystem services through contingent valuation. Esther is also interested in evaluation of agricultural interventions on household welfare outcomes across rural settings and their implications for policy and strategy. Prior to joining IFPRI, she was a Research Consultant with the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) and a Research Assistant in Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). Esther holds a master’s degree in Agricultural and Applied Economics from JKUAT.
