With rampant inflation in many countries, caused by the interlocking crises of climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic and conflicts and wars, including the war on Ukraine, all eyes will be on COP27 which will be held under the Egyptian Presidency at Sharm El-Sheikh this year. With around 830 million food insecure people and linkages between climate change and hunger more obvious than ever before, expectations are particularly high for low- and middle-income countries for this first ever Africa-held U.N. climate change conference. As nations gather at the COP27 meetings to debate mitigation commitments and financial support to those suffering most from climate change’s adverse impacts, research from IFPRI and CGIAR provides important evidence for inclusive strategies to shore up climate resilience and safeguard and improve human well-being in an ever more uncertain future.
