Accessible, timely, and reliable data can drive better policy and decision making. Open data and knowledge, and associated technologies can make a critical contribution to achieving food and nutrition security, but their use will require good governance and strong commitment from the international community.

The CGIAR Big Data Platform aims to accelerate and enhance the impact of international agricultural research. The Big Data Platform complies with open access and open data principles to unlock important research and datasets for use by researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders. The Platform works to build capacity in agriculture through communities of practice that will encourage interaction and engage a range of actors to produce new ideas to solve development problems.

IFPRI’s big data research is closely aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 1SDG 2, SDG 13, SDG 15, and SDG 17.
