Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has had large negative effects on countries’ economies and individual well-being throughout the world, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

Objectives: The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has profound negative impacts on people's lives, but little is known on the effect of COVID-19 on household food insecurity (HFI) in poor setting resources.

The global food system has changed rapidly over recent decades, with large shifts in agricultural supply conditions, international trade, food manufacturing and nutrient availability.

With the aim of contributing to this emerging literature, we investigated: (i) how MDD-W is linked to household food insecurity based on the Household Food Insecurity Access Scale (HFIAS) and on the Household Hunger Scale (HHS); (ii) how MDD-W is
