Derek Headey is a development economist, originally hailing from Australia. He completed his PhD in economics at the University of Queensland, where he also obtained his Bachelors in economics with 1st Class Honours. His research is mostly macro-oriented, with research on development strategies, economic growth, foreign aid effectiveness, dualism, urban bias, national policies, poverty reduction and demographic change.
