Erick Boy

Erick Boy is the Chief Nutritionist in the HarvestPlus section of the Innovation Policy and Scaling Unit. As head of nutrition for the HarvestPlus Program since 2008, he has led research that has generated scientific evidence on biofortified staple crops as efficacious and effective interventions to help address iron, vitamin A, and zinc deficiency in sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, and South Asia.

World food supplies are enough to feed everyone (Reason)

Reason published an article stating that the world is on the verge of a global food crisis of unprecedented portions. If there’s enough food to go around, why has the global trend toward lower levels of hunger recently reversed? Senior research fellow David Laborde said, “As of today, the world has no global shortage of food, but food is quite expensive and people’s wages have not adjusted yet. The main issue is that we have problems moving this food around, either due to the war or export restrictions.”
